SATURDAY MAY 17th

The weather continued to be a point of interest so far this year at the speedway as temperatures flirted with the 90 degree mark Saturday night. Fans, drivers and concessions workers alike withstood the onslaught of soaring temperatures to notch another successful night of racing for the 2008 season at Cottage Grove Speedway. A little relief from the heat came in the form of some great racing (and some cold beverages from the concessions!) as drivers managed to help fans forget momentarily about just how hot they were.



Gene Ashley took an early lead in the All-American Street Stock main event. Many yellows caused by other drivers allowed Ashley to begin his 2008 season 1 for 1.

A spin out on the back stretch by Josh Sim on the first lap of the Late Model main event was cause for a restart. Don Muth, Sr. took advantage, taking an early lead. With plenty of side-by-side action, Muth was able to pick up the win.

Coming off a win last week, Brandi Bounds once again dominated the field with her early season hot streak. With yellows in the 11th and 20th laps, she showed no signs of slowing, picking up her fourth 1st place finish of the season.

Braden Hand fought hard for the lead during the Modified main event. With the help of several cautions, Jesse Williamson was able to take advantage, eventually passing Hand and securing the win.

The 360 main event appeared to be a rematch from last week with Kyle Miller and Shane Forte in front for the start. But, Forte struggled as his car slowed to a stop in lap 15 and Miller came away with the win.
