RV CORRAL NIGHT AT THE RACES

SATURDAY MAY 31st

After the rains fell last week keeping the racers from putting on their weekly show the fans and drivers were ready to get back on track. While clouds loomed overhead, the track and bleachers stayed dry to keep everybody happy. The track benefited from the weather leading up the Saturday as the conditions produced some extremely fast times, including two new track records being set.


Nate Morelock was able to pull down a new track record during qualifying for the limited sprints Saturday night. His speeds showed to be no fluke as he dominated the main event later in the evening. Some luck helped Nate along as well as a yellow flag allowed him to stear clear of lapped traffic later on in the race. The win was Morelock's first of the season.


The Modified A Main was filled with all kinds of excitement. This is the type of race most fans like to see and most drivers fear as the race was quickly approaching destruction derby status. Amidst all the mayhem some quality driving was happening however, with Monte Bischoff fending off Robert Hand on the last lap to grab the checkered flag.


The All American Street Stocks turned out to be almost the exact opposite of the Modifieds, with only one yellow flag during the entire A Main. Robert Wulbrandt got out to an early lead and looked like he would have no competition in grabbing the victory until T.J. Langan made a pass attempt on the final corner of the last lap. Wulbrandt was able to hold Langan off to grab first place, while Langan finished in second.


Casey Vitale took advantage of the track conditions early in the day to secure a new track record during qualifying. His times didn't hold up in the actual racing however as Craig Hanson put a clinic on for the rest of the field as he lapped his way all the way up to the fifth place driver.
