Cottage Grove, Oregon- With four races in the books in 2013 the Cottage Grove Speedway is excited to present their first ever Fan Appreciation Night this Saturday May 11th. Sponsoring the event will be the fine folks at Knecht’s Auto Parts longtime sponsor of the ¼-mile clay oval. After qualifying all of the cars that are signed in to race will be brought out on the race track allowing fans to visit and get up close to all of the drivers.

Classes that will be on hand will include the 360 Sprints, Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks. The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will be on hand and compete against the local Late Models in what should produce some great action.

“Saturday is going to be a great night for the fans,” commented Heather Boyce, General Manager of Cottage Grove Speedway, “we are going to dedicate time during the night where all the cars will be out on the track and fans will get a chance to get close to all these nice looking machines. This is the first time that we’ve had something like this and we can’t thank Knecht’s Auto Part enough for supporting this race.”

The only two times fans have seen 360 Sprints in action was during the Grove Classic weekend in late April. In both of those events three-time CGS track champion Roger Crockett was the feature winner. But a whole

In Late Model action Paul Culp and Collen Winebarger have won the only two features at Cottage Grove so far. Winebarger is looking for his first career Northwest Extreme Late Model Series victory despite coming close in the group’s two races at Sunset Speedway Park in Banks. In those two events two-time series champion Greg Walters has managed to win both of them.

Curtis Towns and Troy McElroy have both visited victory lane in the first two IMCA Modified races. Daniel Ray and Jordan Braaten have managed to both earn wins in Street Stocks.

Tickets for the races on Saturday are $12.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. A Family Pass is offered for $35.00 which includes two Adults and up to four Youths. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing starts around 6:45.

Knecht’s Auto Part since 1955 has been family owned and operated and has become one of the most well know auto parts stores in the Pacific Northwest. Knecht’s offers a wide range of free helpful services to make your commuting safer such as free engine check light diagnostic test, alternator and battery tests, loaner tool program, and wiper blade installation. Also ask about their price match program and with twenty-five locations in Oregon they are all ready to help you wherever you are.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till September every Saturday night.
