Three Nights Of Great Racing On Tap For CGS

Cottage Grove, Oregon- This Independence Day weekend the Cottage Grove Speedway will be the place to be. From July 4th until the 6th there will be three nights of consecutive racing at the ¼-mile clay oval. Thursday the 4th will be the Firecracker 100 with a Firework Spectacular to conclude the evening’s events. Then on Friday and Saturday the ASCS-Northwest Region will be on hand to close out the 2013 Bully Dog Performance Speedweek Northwest presented by Contingency Connection.

Headlining Thursday’s card will be the DIRTcar Super Late Models while IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Hornets will also be in action. Collen Winebarger so far has won the most events this year in the Late Models with a total of three victories. Chuck Christian and Paul Culp are only other winners so far this year with one win each.

Curtis Towns has the most wins in the IMCA Modified ranks with two and is the only driver to win more than one feature. Jesse Williamson, Mark Carrell, and Troy McElroy have won once. Darin Crooks has visited victory lane three times in the Streets Stocks which is the most anyone has done so far. Daniel Ray has two wins while Steve Begley and Jordan Braaten have earned one win apiece.

The Hornets has seen thus far this year Joe Maricle win the most races in the current campaign with three wins. Kolby Clay is the only other repeat winner with two wins. Drivers winning just once include Jim Simmons, David Beals, and Josh Corley while James Deatherage and Evan Britton have earned non-point events.

When it comes to Sprint Car events Roger Crockett has won five races in six events. Rob Held is the only other winner after earning the win on June 22nd. The events will be sanctioned by the ASCS-Northwest Region and the series so far has just visited CGS once back on June 1st which was won by Crockett. He support class for both nights will be the Vintage racers while on Saturday only the Northwest Extreme Sprints will be on hand.

In the Northwest Extreme Sprints the two ladies in the field have won all the races. Raquel Ivie and Kady Adelman are tied with each other for most wins each earning two so far. Will these young ladies continue their winning ways or will someone new emerge victorious?

Ticket prices on Thursday July 4th will be Adults $15.00, Seniors/Juniors/Military $12.00, Youths $5.00, Children Five and Under FREE, and Family Passes (Two Adults and up to Four Youths) will be $35.00 with racing starting around 6:45.

On Friday July 5th and Saturday the 6th regular start times will be utilized and prices are Adults $17.00, Seniors/Juniors/Military $13.00, Youths $7.00, Children Five and Under FREE, and Family Passes (Two Adults and up to Four Youths) will be $40.00. A two day pass will be offered for only $30.00.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till October every Saturday night.
