Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Cottage Grove Speedway will be a happening place this Friday August 23rd and Saturday the 24th. The best 360 Sprint drivers on the Pacific Coast will invade the high-banked ¼-mile clay oval on Friday evening with the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region. Saturday night the Northwest Extreme Sprints, Late Models, and Street Stocks will be on the card for a night of thrilling side-by-side racing excitement. The only class participating in both nights of action will be the always entertaining Hornets.

Ticket prices on Friday are Adults $17.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $13.00, Youths (6-12) $7.00, 5 and Under FREE, Family Pass (Two Adults and Up To Four Youths) $40.00. Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing starts around 6:45.

Tickets for the races on Saturday are $12.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. A Family Pass is offered for $30.00 which includes two Adults and up to four Youths. Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing starts around 6:45.

In the five ASCS-Northwest Region races of 2013 Roger Crockett has went undefeated so far including the two co-sanctioned events against the ASCS-National Tour in late July. Two other drivers have won at Cottage Grove this year in local competition and they are Rob Held and Garen Linder.

The Northwest Extreme Sprints have had a smashing campaign this season. Raquel Ivie and Kady Adelman have been the two entries to beat. They each have three wins to their credit and Adelman has a slight one point advantage over Ivie headed into Saturday. Dan Philpott is the only other winner in the division with just one trip to victory lane.

The Late Models have seen Collen Winebarger be in dominant form. The youngster has a total of four wins, including one non-point affair, recorded at CGS in 2013 while Trevor Glaser is the only other repeat winner with two. Drivers with just a single triumph include Paul Culp, Chuck Christian, and Shaun Mayea. Culp has a ninety-seven point lead over Christian at this point.

In Street Stocks it is a tie for most wins between Darin Crooks and Daniel Ray at four each. Jordan Braaten, Steve Begley, and T.J. Langan are drivers who have won just once. In the points battle Crooks has a massive two-hundred-twenty-eight point lead over Ray.

Last but not least the Hornets have seen lots of action in 2013. In eleven point races there have been seven different victors. Joe Maricle leads the class with his five wins followed by Kolby Clay and Josh Corley with two who both are the only other drivers to win more than one point event. James Deatherage, Jim Simmons, Matt Cordell, and David Beals each have one point win while Deatherage and Evan Britton have one non-point victory each. Maricle at this point has an eighty-six point margin over second place Mike Simmons headed into this weekend.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till October every Saturday night.
