Cottage Grove, Oregon- Saturday September 7th will be an evening where the Cottage Grove Speedway pays homage to its rich fifty-plus years of racing heritage. That’s right it is time for the annual Historical Night where displays of old pictures, memorabilia, news clippings, and much more will be on hand along with the induction of the 2013 class into the CGS Hall of Fame. Classes competing during the night will be the Northwest Extreme Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, and Hornets.

Tickets for the races on Saturday are $12.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. A Family Pass is offered for $30.00 which includes two Adults and up to four Youths. Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing starts around 6:45

The Northwest Extreme Sprints have seen Raquel Ivie and Kady Adelman dominate the division. Both young ladies have three main event wins each while Nathan Ellertson and Dan Philpott have both won once. The IMCA Modifieds are back in action after last weekend’s two day affair. Curtis Towns leads the win list with his three trips to victory lane of Jesse Williamson’s two. Drivers with just one win this year include Braedon Hand, Mark Carrell, Troy McElroy, Mark Wauge, and Craig Hanson.

Last but not least the Hornets are back at “The Grove”. Joe Maricle has had an impressive season with five wins over Taunton Swaim, Josh Corley, and Kolby Clay who have won twice. Drivers with one win include David Beals, James Deatherage, Jim Simmons, and Matt Cordell. In non-point action Evan Britton and James Deatherage have one triumph each.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till October every Saturday night. For more information be sure and visit the venue’s homepage www.cottagegrovespeedway.com or call the brand new Northwest Tracks Hotline at (360)-699-RACE.
