Cottage Grove, Oregon- Since 2002 fans of the Cottage Grove Speedway have had the pleasure to watch some great Grove Classics. 2014 will hopefully be the best one to date especially since it is dedicated to the late Marvin Smith a four-time Cottage Grove Speedway Sprint Car champion, one of the track’s most popular drivers. The event will be contested over the course of two nights beginning with Friday April 25th and culminating with the finale on Saturday the 26th.

“This year the Grove Classic is going to be very special,” commented CGS General Manager Heather Boyce, “Marvin Smith was such an integral part of this place and to honor his legacy for his family and his fans is the least we could do.”

The whole weekend will be a fun time as several events will transpire over the two days including a charity kick-it game for Big Al Kids and Motorsports Foundation. Details for further activities will be released shortly so be sure and check the website often. A whole bunch of drivers past and present are looking forward to this event of racing in Marvin’s honor.

Roger Crockett has simply owned this event over the past ten years winning thirteen consecutive Grove Classic features starting with his first on April 24th, 2004. Will he sweep another Grove Classic weekend or will someone else rise to the occasion and hoist the trophy in victory lane. Find out on April 25th and 26th at the Cottage Grove Speedway.
