Cottage Grove, Oregon- It will be a busy weekend at Cottage Grove Speedway. Friday May 9th will kick things off with the 2014 Season Opener for the Kage Karts. Then on Saturday May 10th the historic ¼-mile clay oval will host Fan Appreciation Night where we bring out all the cars on the track before opening ceremonies for fans to take pictures, get autographs, etc. from their favorite teams. Be sure and show up early as the first five hundred people that show up will get a FREE autograph book.

General admission to the Kart race on Friday will be FREE of charge. Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $35.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 3:00 PM and the Pit Meeting is at 6:00 PM with Hot Laps and Racing to follow.

Classes in action will be the Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints, Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Hornets. In addition the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will take on the local CGS Late Model contingent.

The Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints have completed one race with Roger Crockett picking up the win while in the Late Models Shaun Mayea has won the last two. Shaun’s uncle Rob Mayea won the non-point Late Model event on April 12th.

In IMCA Modified action Braedon Hand and Mark Wauge have visited victory lane in the only two events in 2014 for that class. Justin Evans has picked up the only Street Stock main event to be held while in the Hornets Taunton Swaim and K.C. Scott are the only two feature winners this season. K.C. Scott’s win last Saturday was a non-point affair.

Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and Racing starts at 6:45. Tickets are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE. For more information log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com.
