With the ASCS-Northwest Region back in the house for another night of great racing at Relay For Life Night they were also accompanied by some terrific action in support classes on Saturday June 14th. Those classes included the IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Hornets. The Hornets were a late addition so it was a non-point contest.

In only a handful of starts in 2014 Gus Cooper from Creswell was impressive for several laps of the IMCA Modified main event. Cooper would grab the initial lead in his Eastside Rollforming Specialties/Raceprint.com/BBQ Oil Barbeque Sauces #10 Pro but would get passed by Mark Wauge. Wauge, from Jacksonville, would have to give it back due to a caution coming out before the lap could be completed.

On the restart Wauge would get around Cooper on lap thirteen and he would lead the rest of the distance. It would be the second win of 2014 at CGS for Wauge and the Dog House Racing/Payroll Specialties/Hoppes Construction/Schram Brothers Excavating #28M Impressive team.

Troy McElroy from Shady Cove was second in the Left Coast Motorsports/BSB Manufacturing/Siskiyou Pump Service/Rocket Designs #57M Swartz while behind him in third went to the Berry’s Oak Grove Storage/B.R.E. Race Cars/GaryMorganGraphics.com/Napa Auto Parts of Klamath Falls #11X B.R.E of Tom Berry Jr. of Medford. To make it a complete sweep of the top five from Southern Oregon drivers Monte Bischoff was fourth in the Payroll Specialties Inc./Hoppes Construction/Lucas Oil Products #F1 Impressive followed by the Rich and Nicky Biehn owned Biehn Racing/Air Gas/Natures Images/Lithia Dodge-Toyota of Klamath Falls #54N Shaw driven by Nick Trenchard from Klamath Falls.

Despite not leading the first lap Evan Britton of Cottage Grove would dominate the Street Stock feature. Britton would cruise to his first career victory in the Street Stocks while chauffeuring his Dot’s Trophy Shop/Ollivant Timber Management/Howell Logging/Gilkison & Dad Inc. #85 Nova.

Darryl Crooks of Cottage Grove was second in the Nathan Anderson Dentistry/Platinum Hair of Creswell/Stacey Graves Massage Therapy #00 Nova and in third Mark Henderson from Cottage Grove in the Henderson Racing #0 Nova. Completing the finishing order was Creswell’s Brad Green in the #1 entry in fourth.

In the Hornets Eric Cooper of Cottage Grove in the Eastside Rollforming Specialties/R&D Specialties #32 Nissan 200SX would lead the entire distance of the main event. It would be Cooper’s first career win in the division despite on half a dozen or so starts total.

Jim Simmons from Cottage Grove crossed the stripe in second in his Marvin Smith Auto Repair/Body Works Salon/Bigg Dogg Recycling #41 Honda Prelude and in third was the Junction City Muffler Shop/Guaranty Chevrolet/Forté Motorsports/Twisted Bit Arena #23F Nissan Centra of Junction City’s Marcel Forté. Chris Pierce of Cottage Grove would complete the finishing order in his Pierce Racing #28 Chevy Cavalier in fourth.
