Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 2, 2014) – Patrick Dills garnered another top 10 last Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway.

“It went pretty well,” he said. “I’m more satisfied with the heat race run.”

After qualifying seventh quickest, Dills battled fellow Cottage Grove native Colin Baker for a heat race victory. The duo competed in close quarters with Baker capturing the win and Dills ending second.

That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event on the quarter-mile oval.

“The track was prepped for the modified guys since it was the Modified Nationals,” he said. “There was no cushion. The track was dry slick from top to bottom. It was an experienced driver track. I instantly fell back to 12th.”

The track began to take rubber in the closing laps and Dills maneuvered to an eighth-place result, which marked his sixth top 10 of the season.

“I was passing cars in the main event once I fell back,” he said. “I started getting used to the track and was able to run through the slick and drag the brakes through the corners.”

Dills will return to Cottage Grove Speedway this Friday and Saturday for a pair of ASCS Northwest Region Speedweek races.
