Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway will be back in action this Saturday August 23rd for the annual Mark Howard Memorial. This race is ran in honor of Mark Howard, a man who was both a champion on the track and a mentor to many racers off of it. Classes in action include the Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints, Late Models, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, and Street Stocks. The Street Stocks will be competing for the coveted Wallbanger Cup this year presented by Brad’s Car Tunes.

In the Huddle Automotive Repair 360 Sprints Roger Crockett, Henry Van Dam, and Seth Bergman are in a three-way tie for most wins in 2014 as each have scored two wins apiece. Drivers to win once at CGS include Colin Baker, J.J. Hickle, Kyle Hirst, and Logan Forler.

Shuan Mayea has been the driver to beat in the Late Model division as he has visited victory lane four times. Shaun’s uncle Rob Mayea is the only other multi-feature winner with three while Blaine Taylor has won once.

There has yet to be a repeat winner in the Northwest Extreme Modifieds debut season. In five races there have been five different winners with Scott Akin, David Schmidt, Justin Ryker, Brandon Potter, and Braedon Hand making it to the winner’s circle on one occasion each.

Last but not least the Street Stocks have had its fair share of different winners. Evan Britton has the most triumphs, with five, while Justin Evans has won three times. T.J. Langan, Steve Begley, and Jody Tanner all have one win each.

On Saturday Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:45. Tickets for this event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE.
