Cottage Grove, Oregon- In the Pacific Northwest it was regarded as the most prestigious Indoor Kage Kart race of them all. At one time it nearly collected a total of sixty Open Kage Karts. From 2007-2011 it was competed at Salem Indoor Speedway at the Oregon State Fairgrounds the first edition being at “The Pavilion” and the other four at the Forester Livestock Pavilion. Now in 2014 it will be resurrected and brought back to life but this time at the Cottage Grove Speedway during Labor Day weekend.

The event will be contested over two nights beginning with Saturday August 30th and Sunday the 31st and will draw the area’s best Kage Kart drivers. This event has traditionally drew Karts from Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, and Montana. Details regarding the purse, entry fees, and format are at the bottom of this release.

One statistic that goes with the King of the West is that there has not been a repeat winner. In five years there were five different feature winners from three different states. Ben Hinkle, Jason Mendenhal, Tommy Brown, Jake Claasen, and David Lyons have etched their names in eternal glory as past King of the West feature winners.

During Labor Day weekend in the years of 2010 and 2011 a two day was held named the Northwest Kart Classic. During those two years drivers from all over the Western United States would venture to CGS and put on some great contests. In those two editions David Lyons and Patrick Dills would wind up victorious when it was all said and done. Both dates General Admission is FREE and Pit Passes are $10.00.
