Dills Hangs on Against 360s For 11th Top 10 of Season at Cottage Grove

Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (Aug. 28, 2014) – Patrick Dills powered to his 11th top 10 of the season last Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Dills, who was competing in the 360ci class with his Northwest Extreme Sprint that’s down approximately 200 horsepower, ended with a ninth-place result.
“I’ll take a top 10 any time against the 360s,” he said. “I feel like I learn a ton every time I’m out there and when you can keep up with some of the guys who have a lot more horsepower it’s a big confidence boost.”
Dills kicked off the night by qualifying 14th quickest. He advanced from eighth to fifth place during his heat race, which put him 10th in overall points. Dills then started on the pole of the main event since the feature inversion was 10.
“I spun the tires on the spot and the guy on the outside took off,” he said. “I slowly dropped back. I’d lose a spot a few laps at a time. I was hoping to do something a little better than ninth. I was close to seventh and eighth place and a yellow came out and Roger (Crockett) had just lapped me. So those cars went to the back for the restart. Otherwise I think I would have had a shot at getting back a couple of positions.”
Dills will return to sprint car competition on Sept. 13 at Cottage Grove Speedway.
