Snohomish, Washington's Reece Goetz missed out on the first race with the Western Sprint Tour back in late April at Cottage Grove but he plans to venture to the state of Oregon for the Memorial Day Weekend Doubleheader and catch a couple of races with the WST. The weekend kicks off at Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday May 23rd and concludes on Sunday the 24th at Cottage Grove.

Competing in about ten races already in 2015, Goetz has had an up and down start to the current campaign. His best recorded finish was a fifth in 360 Sprint competition at Skagit Speedway on April 18th. The team has recently switched over to KPC chassis and are hoping for better results as the season progresses.

“This year hasn't been the best due to some mechanical failures,” Goetz would say, “but we've changed some things to better ourselves by going to a different chassis and maintenance program.”

Goetz failed to make a feature at Southern Oregon Speedway last year but will look to put that behind him this weekend. In 2014 at Cottage Grove his best run was a third on June 13th. Keep an eye out for the Great Western Transport/Speedmart Inc./Elma Lanes/Sandblasters Inc./Powdercoating Inc. #9R KPC this season.

“My goal every race is to win but the group of guys that we have around here make that very difficult,” he would continue, “but if we have one goal this year it's to run up front and not have any mechanical problems.”

Southern Oregon Speedway, located in White City, will host the second race of the Western Sprint Tour season on Saturday May 23rd. Tickets are Adults $15.00, Seniors/Veterans $12.00, Juniors (6-12) $10.00, and Children 5 & Under are FREE. The action all starts around 7:00 PM.

Cottage Grove Speedway will be the final stop for the weekend on Sunday May 24th. Tickets are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and 5 & Under FREE. Racing begins around 6:45 PM.
