Cottage Grove, Oregon- Jimmy Owen, of Cottage Grove, is ready for action on Saturday May 23rd in the IMCA Sport Mod division. Owen is the driver of the Steelhouse Metal Roofing Supply/Quality RV Repair/Bonnichson Auto Repair/Devine Continuous Gutter Service/Green Day Garden Center/Dan Martin Excavating #38 machine. So far Jimmy has finished second in both starts this year and resides second in the championship standings.

“It's been a pretty good year even though we're dealing with some motor issues,” said Owen, “but I'm hoping to have everything fixed by this weekend to give Gene (Ashley) a run for his money.”

Owen is doing something very special this week for his friend Colin Baker. He is giving all of his race earnings from the weekend to Colin's medical fund. Baker is currently in the hospital suffering from the genetic disorder Wilson's disease.

“I want to challenge all the drivers out there that plan on racing this weekend to donate to this great family,” he would continue, “they don't have to donate all their winnings just something every little bit helps.”

Jimmy is also offering his car to be signed with messages to Colin with painting pens after the races. All he asks is for a small donation which will also be going directly to the Baker family's medical fund.

Saturday night will be T-Shirt Night featuring the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and the Quality RV Repair Hornets. Being that it's T-Shirt Night if you wear a CGS T-Shirt or Sweatshirt you will receive $2.00 off your admission at the gate. Saturday Admission prices are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $5.00, and 5 & Under FREE.

Sunday will see the return of the Western Sprint Tour 360 Sprints with a very good car count expected. Support classes include the IMCA Modifieds and the Quality RV Repair Hornets. Sunday tickets are Adults $15.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $13.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $8.00, and 5 & Under FREE.
