Cottage Grove, Oregon- Henry Van Dam is entering Cottage Grove Speedway with a target on his back this Friday May 29th and Saturday the 30th. The Enumclaw, Washington native goes into the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic as the defending race winner. He aims to put his Kovash Logging/Johnasen Excavating/Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation/Factory Kahne Shocks/Van Dam Dairy/Les Schwab Tires #33V A.R.T. In victory lane for the second straight year.

He knows the task will be tough but he is coming off one of his best weekends of 2015 which included a victory on Saturday May 23rd at Gray Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington. Henry will look to continue that momentum this weekend.

“The season started on a positive note down south,” Van Dam would say, “are Northwest program start out a little slow be we're getting better and better each week.”

In his last five starts Henry has finished in the top five four times. Last Sunday, May 24th, at Cottage Grove Speedway he ended the evening third with the Western Sprint Tour. His only other CGS in 2015 on May 2nd resulted in a fifth. His expectations going into the big event this weekend?

“I'm just really excited for this weekend and I think we can get the job done and win it,” he would continue, “but sometimes if we get too serious about these races we lose focus on why we are there and that's to remember a great guy like Marvin (Smith). That is what all of this weekend is about.”

Admission prices each night are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youths (Ages 6-12) $5.00, and 5 & Under FREE. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Qualifying 5:30, and Racing begins right around 6:45 for both races.
