Cottage Grove, Oregon- Stock Cars have a long storied history at Cottage Grove Speedway. After hosting Super Stocks and Sportsman divisions throughout the years the historic ¼-mile clay oval would establish a Late Model division in 2007. It has produced some memorable moments over the nine seasons they have been around for.

Last year Curtis Towns filled in the driver’s seat for Paul Culp. Towns would be the class of the field and was in pure dominant form emerging victorious on nine occasions in sixteen starts. It was simply impressive being that he had very limited Late Model experience prior to the 2015 season.

Paul Culp intends to return to the famed #42 in 2016 and Towns will primarily be concentrating on the IMCA Modified division. This vacates the crown at CGS and brings an opportunity for all challengers. That opens the door for the likes of Josh Sim, Rob Williams, the Peters brothers, Mike and Ed, or any others that look to run for the title. 14 races are on the schedule for the class this season with the first taking place on April 9th.

The big one to win in Late Models is the Logger’s Cup. 2015 would see the rebirth of this classic event after a multi-decade hiatus. Curtis Towns was the winner over Justin Duty, Preston Luckman, Brian Cronk, and Bricen James. This season the race is on June 25th and as of right now $1,000.00 to win.
