Dills Earns Second Straight Win at Cottage Grove Speedway
Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 14, 2016) – A couple of weeks ago Patrick Dills decided new wasn’t necessarily good. So the team went back to an older chassis and it has paid dividends.
Dills scored his second consecutive win last Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints division.
Dills dominated the event. He qualified fourth quickest, won the dash and claimed a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event and it didn’t take long for him to find the lead. Dills powered into the top spot on the second circuit and handled traffic perfectly for the victory.
“I’ve never won two in a row in a sprint car,” he said. “In go-karts I won four or five, but this is … very special.
“When the green came out the leader took off and on the second lap I slid him and he spun out and I kept going. I had a few close calls in lapped traffic, but the car was so good I could go where I wanted. We put that old car together and I feel comfortable. I have so much confidence right now. Me and the crew are all on the same page and it feels fantastic.”
With his second consecutive win Dills, the defending Cottage Grove Speedway track champion in the division, moved from fifth to second place in points standings.
“I still have a lot to prove and I know we can win in the 360 sprint,” he said.
Dills gets back to 360ci competition this Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway.
