ASCS Northwest Set for Oregon Double!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 12, 2011) – The ASCS Northwest Region makes its final Oregon stops of the season with a pair of events in Lebanon and Cottage Grove this weekend.

The weekend doubleheader fires off Friday night at Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway and then concludes on Saturday night at Cottage Grove Speedway.

With just the season-ending double at the Yakima Dirt Track next weekend remaining following the Oregon action, Roger Crockett is closing in on a second ASCS Northwest championship.

Crockett, with a Cottage Grove sweep in May among his five series wins this season, holds a 148-point lead over Henry Van Dam entering this weekend’s action. Crockett also swept the series most recent weekend double at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA, on August 26-27.

With Crockett leading Van Dam, the balance of the current top five includes 15-year-old Trey Starks, Seth Bergman and Chadd Noland. Mason Moore, Mitch Olson, Jason Cocking, Garen Linder and Kyle Larson fill out the rest of the top ten.

Friday’s action at Willamette Speedway fires off at 6:00 p.m., with Saturday’s card at Cottage Grove Speedway going green at 6:45 p.m.

The high-banked, 1/3-mile Willamette Speedway clay oval is located in Lebanon, OR, off I-5 to SR 34, then 5.4 miles east on SR 34, then 2.2 miles SE on Denny School Road (which turns into Airport Drive). For more information, contact the track at 541-258-8503 or 541-258-6888.

Cottage Grove Speedway is located off I-5 Exit 174, one block south on Gateway, then one block south on North 19th Street, then right for 0.3 miles on Ostrander Lane, then 0.4 miles north on Douglas (next to the fairgrounds). For more information, contact the track at 541-942-7561.

The 2011 ASCS Northwest slate of events includes 21 nights of action at seven tracks throughout Washington and Oregon.

The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
