Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Hornets were back in action on Tuesday, June 25th, as the support class for the Wild West Modified Shootout. Thirteen drivers would make the trip for the rare weekday race.

Joe Maricle was quite fast in the first few laps of the main event. The Eugene driver took over the lead in the opening lap and retained the position until lap four. Hornet newcomer Mark Milligan made the move around Maricle, on lap five, to obtain the top spot. He held on for the rest of the distance to secure his first career win at Cottage Grove Speedway.

Brad Moffett, also of Eugene, was second, while Pleasant Hill’s Adam Keegan posted a third. Joe Maricle ended the evening in fourth and Dexter driver Barry Cannon completed the top five, in fifth. Earlier in the night Dexter’s Mike Swaim was fastest in time trials with heat race wins going to Maricle and Milligan while Moffett won the Dot’s Trophy Shop Dash.
