Cottage Grove, Oregon- After a very successful Fan Appreciation Night presented by Knecht’s Auto Parts last Saturday the Cottage Grove Speedway is ready to return to racing this weekend on May 18th. It will mark the sixth straight race of 2013 as the weather has been very cooperative this spring. Classes in action this weekend are Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

“Last week we had some great racing here,” commented Heather Boyce, General Manager of the Cottage Grove Speedway, “we expect to have another great show on hand and we hope everyone can make it out Saturday night.”

In Late Model action Collen Winebarger has won the last two features. Paul Culp managed to win the season opener on April 20th to be the only other winner so far this year in the class. The IMCA Modifieds have had three different winners in three races in 2013. Those drivers being Jesse Williamson, Curtis Towns, and Troy McElroy visiting victory lane thus far.

Daniel Ray earned his second win of the campaign in the Street Stocks last week. Only one other driver has won so far in the class and that was Jordan Braaten on May 4th. In the Hornets Kolby Clay has won the last two races while the first race of the year was won by Joe Maricle back in April.

Tickets for the races on Saturday are $12.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. A Family Pass is offered for $35.00 which includes two Adults and up to four Youths. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing starts around 6:45.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till September every Saturday night. For more information be sure and visit the venue’s homepage www.cottagegrovespeedway.com or call the brand new Northwest Tracks Hotline at (360)-699-RACE.
