Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Cottage Grove Speedway will have a busy Memorial Day weekend this Friday May 24th and Saturday the 25th. Kage Karts will kick everything off Friday while Saturday will be Armed Forces Night and features the Northwest Extreme Sprints, WMRA/USAC Midgets, Hornets, and Dwarf Cars. Any past or present persons that have served this county’s military will get half off of their general admission ticket.

“We have an exciting couple of race coming up this weekend,” commented Heather Boyce, General Manager of the Cottage Grove Speedway, “Friday our wonderful Kart program will have their second race of the year. General admission is free for that night so come on out. Also on Saturday we want to honor our brave American military members by giving them a 50% discount at the front gate. We really appreciate all they have done for this great country.”

The Northwest Extreme Sprints have had just only one race so far this year and Raquel Ivie was the winner in that installment. The Hornets have had a total four main events and Kolby Clay leads the win chart with two triumphs. The two other drivers that have managed victories include Joe Maricle and Jim Simmons who have captured one win each. Both the WMRA/USAC Midgets and Dwarf Cars will be on hand for the first time this year.

In Kage Kart action there has only been one race. Blake Boshart was the winner in Pee Wee action while the 5 Horse Power class saw Tayln Roberts pick up the victory. Kyle Roles earned the win in the first 125cc feature and so did Tyler Thompson in the 250cc division. Winning the first Open Kage main event was Kyle Alberding.

General admission to the Friday Kart event will be FREE of charge. Pit passes are $10.00 and car and driver fees will be $30.00. The pit gates open up around 4:00 PM and racing is scheduled to begin around 6:45.

Tickets for the races on Saturday are $12.00 for Adults, Senior/Military/Junior (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children under the age of five are FREE. A Family Pass is offered for $35.00 which includes two Adults and up to four Youths. Pit gates open at 3:00 PM, front gates 4:00, time trials 5:30, and racing stats around 6:45. Remember whether you are a veteran or a current member of the United States military you will receive half off of your ticket purchase.

The Cottage Grove Speedway has hosted fast and exciting action as far back as 1956. Since then the ¼-mile banked oval has been regarded as a place where fast times are set and plenty of side-by-side racing occurs. Regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets from the months of April till September every Saturday night.
