Cottage Grove Speedway Returns For CG Chamber Of Commerce Night

Cottage Grove Speedway Returns For CG Chamber Of Commerce Night
By Ben Deatherage
Cottage Grove, Oregon- After last week’s disappointing rain out Cottage Grove Speedway is excited to get back to racing this Saturday April 30th. The evening is sure to be a great one as it will be Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Night and all current Chamber members get into the races for just $5.00. Classes in action include the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and Quality RV Repair Hornets.

In action for just one race, the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints witnessed a well-deserved and emotional first victory for Dusty Redmond a few weeks ago. Will he be able to back in up with another win? There is a wealth of talented drivers in the class looking for their first triumph of the year.

The IMCA Modifieds have competed at the ¼-mile clay oval twice in 2016. Collen Winebarger was victorious in the Season Opener and the most recent driver to enter the winner’s circle was Craig Hanson after an exciting late race pass. The IMCA Sport Mods have only been on hand once and that was when Jorddon Braaten would take care of business and pulled off a clean sweep.

The Street Stocks return after a few weeks off. Chris Sine resumed his championship form by crossing the line first in the feature. But what was real neat to see was all of the new equipment which is a healthy sign for the future of the class.

Finally, in the Quality RV Repair Hornets there have been two different winners in as many races. K.C. Scott led every lap of the first installment while Josh Corley got to the front, with a few laps to go, in order to win the race and visit victory lane. The Hornets may have lost some drivers to other division but they have gained a good number of new talent which is exciting to see.

Pit Gates open at 1:00, Front Gates 4:00, and Racing starts at 6:30. Tickets are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors/Military $10.00, Youth (6-12) - $5.00, Family Pass $30.00, and Children 5 or under are FREE. Pit Passes will be offered for $30.00 each.
