Cottage Grove, Oregon- Night two of the 2018 Logger’s Cup would take place on Saturday, August 11th. The Late Models and Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds returned to action while the Super Sports and Quality RV Repair Hornets would be added to the card.

Collen Winebarger would take full advantage of his front row starting position in the Late Model finale for the Logger’s Cup. The Corbett native, racing for car owner Jerry Schram, lead the field the entire distance to win going unchallenged for his first career Logger’s Cup victory and his second straight night he bested the competition in the class.

In the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modified main event Evan Britton, of Cottage Grove, showed the way for the first five laps. Unfortunately, he would be caught up in an incident giving the lead to C.J. Putnam. Putnam, from White City and racing for car owner Don Romer, himself would give up the top spot under caution after having to retire to the pits. Taking the role as the trailblazer was Collen Winebarger. Despite several cautions and restarts Winebarger maintained the position and doubled up on the weekend for the second straight win in the Mods and his fourth win at CGS in the division. Medford veteran Mark Wauge

Salem’s Chris Mott had the field covered for much of the feature. Mott lead the first fourteen laps before being overtaken by Randy Barley. Barley, from Albany, went on to win his second Super Sport win in the final race for the class at “The Grove”.

Eric Ashley took care of business in the Quality RV Repair Hornets. The Jasper driver, racing for car owner Randy Kuhl, stayed in front the entire distance despite some heavy pressure from challengers. It is the second occasion he has graced victory lane.

Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing on Tuesday, August 14th for the ISCS Week Of Speed. The Interstate Sprint Car Series will make their final appearance of the season at the historic ¼-mile clay oval with Dwarf Cars playing the role of the support class.
