Cottage Grove, Oregon- In addition to the ISCS Sprint on hand at Cottage Grove so too were the Late Models and Hornets. The Saturday, August 31st event also had exhibition races for Kage Karts. The Kage Karts wrapped up their racing season the night before. Cottage Grove’s Hunter Rigel (Pee Wee), Mason King of Springfield (5HP Intermediate), Lebanon standout Carter Patterson (250cc), Jeff Cox (Flat Kart), and Philomath’s Briley Pompe (Open Kage) earning August 30th wins.

Chad Groves dominated the Late Model main event. Groves, from Bend and running for car owner Jerry Casey, led every single lap of the main event. The only thing that slowed him up was three stoppages. Springfield’s Mike Miller, racing for owner Ryan Ronning, placed second over third finishing Brian Smith, of Sweet Home and also in a Jerry Casey owned entry. The top five was rounded up with Creswell veteran Paul Culp and Craig Hanson, of Albany, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Graig Osborne made a significant return back to the Hornet division. After being out for three months due to an injury, the Creswell driver obtained the lead on lap three and didn’t look back from there. Osborne now has a total of three wins to his credit this season.

K.C. Scott, of Springfield, ended his evening in second with Kerry Cooper, from Cottage Grove, coming home in third. Dexter driver Barry Cannon was credited with fourth over fifth finishing Jim Simmons, of Cottage Grove. Simmons led the first two laps of the main event before being passed by Osborne.

The Kage Karts had three exhibition races. Hunter Rigel (Pee Wee), Mason King (5HP Intermediate), and Junction City youngster Kendall Masters (250cc) earned victories.
